Covid-19 Watch: 1,358 new cases, says Health Ministry


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 1,358 new Covid-19 infections on Sunday (June 5), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Monday (June 6) that this brings the new total to 4,514,989 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 1,358, two are imported cases while the remaining 1,356 are local.

The CovidNow portal also said that there were 1,620 recoveries on Sunday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 22,183.

Of the active cases, 95.7% or 21,232 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 21 people or 0.1% are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Only 4.1% of active cases or 904 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 26 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 12 require ventilator support.
